According to the Hindu mythology i.e. the story of Ramayana Lord Rama performed thanksgiving rituals to Lord Rama after the battle at Sri Lanka and his triumph over the demon king Ravana. Owing to this Rameshwaram attracts Vaishnavites (worshippers of Lord Vishnu) and Saivites (worshippers of Lord Shiva) alike. Sri Lanka is at a distance of 24 kilometers from Rameshwaram.

Ooty
Lovingly called the ‘Queen of Hill Stations’, Ooty in Tamil Nadu is a hill station tucked away in the Nilgiris. In earlier times, Ooty was occupied by the tribe of Todas who later handed it over to Mr John Sullivan, the tenth Governor of Coimbatore to build up the city.

This hill station in the Western Ghats came into the limelight only in the late 19th century after the British leased some of the lands in the area. They started cultivation of crops such as coffee and cardamom before settling on tea as the ideal crop for the area. In the 1960s, the Tata Group forayed into the tea business and floated Tata tea Ltd. It was in the late 20th century that Munnar emerged as a tourism hotspot.
